Hello Marine, since when have you been part of VIER?
I started working for VIER Cognesys in January 2020 and moved to VIER GmbH on 1 November 2022 – funnily enough, it's also my birthday on 1 November. So there was a lot to celebrate on that day!
You are a financial accountant / back office - what do you deal with specifically?
On the one hand, I'm responsible for invoicing our customers in the accounts receivable team, so there's always a lot to do at the beginning of the month. In the back office team, I'm also involved in contract management. And for the Aachen location, I take care of all topics related to office management, accounting, human resources and marketing.
What do you particularly like about your job?
Definitely the variety in my tasks and the contact with colleagues – especially on the days when everyone is in the office.
What experience and skills from previous jobs help you in your work?
I'm from France, studied business administration and came to Aachen for a semester abroad. That was almost 30 years ago! I first worked for a long time in the cinema world for Disney as a public relations manager, where my knowledge of languages and people and my openness to new things opened a few doors for me. Then I worked for StreetScooter, a start-up from Aachen that was later taken over by Deutsche Post/DHL. During this time, I experienced first-hand what it means to grow quickly as a company. It was very exciting and also challenging. During this time, I switched from communications to administration and quickly realised that I enjoy numbers and administrative tasks.
How do you like to spend your evening after a hard day at work?
I like to do an Ashtanga yoga session or go for a bike ride in the beautiful Mergelland, which is near Aachen, just over the Dutch border. Or trying out new cooking recipes to eat with my family. But going to the cinema is also still a good way for me to immerse myself in another world and take a break.
