The automatic meter reading is an innovative customer self-service, allowing customers of energy providers, municipal utilities, and virtual ("neo") electricity suppliers to partially or fully automate the submission of their meter readings to the energy provider for consumption billing, either over the phone or via WhatsApp.
The software manages the phone dialogue with the callers, eliminating the need for data to be gathered through other cumbersome methods, and sparing customer service staff from manually inputting and storing the information in the dataset. Instead of, for example, using a postcard, customers contact the energy provider by phone, identify themselves with their name and customer number, and submit the meter readings either through voice input or using the telephone keypad. The service can be provided through both telephone calls and for chat and WhatsApp.
